What is a ‘Visit Reservation System’? ‘Visit Reservation’ is a system where applicants designate a convenient date and time to schedule a visit to a local immigration office. Is it mandatory to make a reservation to visit? Yes, that's right. The visit reservation system has been implemented as of April 2021 at immigration offices across the nation, and applications are not accepted if you visit the office without making a prior reservation. ※ Yet, for change of place of residence and change of passport, a reservation is not necessary to visit and process at an immigration office. What is the background of introducing the visit reservation system? The visit reservation system has been implemented to improve predictability in handling civil complaints and provide better services by minimizing crowdedness at local immigration offices as there has been a growing number of cases where civil petitioners stand in line from early morning in front of the gates, wait for more than 4 hours even after receiving a waiting number, or have to revisit the office another day with the distribution of the waiting number closed.
